Aquatic Invasive Species Training: Baraboo

Training Description

This aquatic invasive species training is hosted by Upper Sugar River Watershed Association. The training will include an overview of the aquatic invasive species identification on land, followed by an optional paddling. Participants will need to bring their own watercraft and PFDs. A shuttle will be provided.

Attend a free aquatic invasive species detector training and learn how to:

• Identify aquatic invasive species in Wisconsin
• Monitor for aquatic invasive species
• Collect and report findings

What to expect

This event begins at 9:00 AM at the Maxwell Potter Conservancy (700 Hill Street, Baraboo, 53913) with a training on invasive species identification and monitoring. Following the training, there will be an optional paddle from 1pm – 3:30pm to look for aquatic invasive species on the water.

Participants will need to bring their own watercraft and PFDs if participating in the paddle. There will be a shuttle to drive participants, if needed.

What to bring

Bagged lunch, sunscreen, hat, polarized sunglasses (if available), plenty of water.

Watercraft and PFDs if participating in the group paddle (optional).

How to dress

Clothing that correlates to weather conditions (layers are best), clothes for being outside in the sun (hat, long sleeves, shorts or pants), sandals/waterproof boots/waders if planning on wading in the river (optional)
